Today, I visited the Maligaon branch to open a new account for my minor sister. Yesterday, I had gone to the same branch to collect information and asked for an account opening form. I was informed that I should come with the applicant along with the original documents, and the account would be opened directly. So, today around 2 PM, I went to the branch. At first, I found only two staff present—one appeared to be a bank official (male staff), and the other seemed to be a peon or security guard. I spoke to the male staff about opening the account. Unfortunately, he was very lazy and unprofessional. It took him almost 30 minutes just to verify the Xerox copies with the original documents. After that, the peon provided me with the account opening form. While I was filling in the form, I asked the male staff about the monthly maintenance balance. He told me it was ₹2000. I explained that since I was opening an account for my sister, who is a Class 10 student, maintaining ₹2000 every month would be a little difficult for us. After lunchtime, two more female staff members entered the branch—one was the Branch Manager, and the other was an official named Anwesha. Both of them were very polite, soft-spoken, and friendly. A little later, another male staff member also arrived. Anwesha handed my documents to him for processing. After verification, he said that since it was a minor account, parents’ documents would be required. At this point, there was confusion. One staff member said no parents’ documents were needed, while another said they were. I was then asked to wait for a few more minutes. By that time, it was already 3:30 PM, and I had been waiting since 2 PM. I went up to the staff politely and said, “Dada, if you cannot open the account, please let me know so I can open it in another bank.” Instead of responding professionally, both the male staff members got angry and said, “Okay, then go, no need to open the account here.” They even started shouting at me. After a verbal argument, I stepped out of the branch. Outside, I met the Lady Manager and explained everything to her. She asked, “Who told you that parents’ documents are required to open the account? Come with me.” When I also told her that both the male staff had shouted at me, she immediately scolded them and warned them. After that, Anwesha Ma’am personally took charge of the process and successfully opened the account. I sincerely thank Anwesha Ma’am and the Branch Manager Ma’am for their kindness, professionalism, and support. Both of them were extremely helpful and ensured the account was finally opened.
